Swedish furniture giant IKEA will continue to expand its American footprint in 2025.
The globally-recognized company has already opened five locations in the U.S. this year, with plans to open six more before the end of 2025, a company spokesperson told USA TODAY. The company also has early plans to open two more stores in 2026, with more possible.
At the end of the 2024 fiscal year, the company reported having 51 stores and 10 Plan and Order points across the country, with 39 total pick-up locations.
Plan and Order points differ from the traditional IKEA large-format stores as it gives customers a chance to chat with workers and order furnishing solutions that “require a bit more help – such as kitchen, bathroom and closet storage systems,” according to the store. Many Plan and Order stores have pick-up points, which allow customers to collect their purchases when and where it’s convenient for them.

According to IKEA, the company plans to open three more Plan and Order points with pick-up and three large-format stores before the end of the year, with at least two more on the horizon for 2026.
